Mark's undergrad degree is from Cornell. He has law degrees from SUNY Buffalo and Harvard. He practiced law in NYC, Mexico City, and Paris, before doing a stint as a pro tennis manager and tournament organizer. He returned to his college town of Ithaca, NY and got involved in real estate development and politics.

In 2011, Mark moved to Pecan Plantation, TX, and in 2018, to Oak Island, NC.

Mark's a dog lover who has used his small plane to do many dog-rescue flights. He speaks Spanish and French.

On Morning Joe, Dr. Emily Senay, a consulting physician for PBS and CBS, tells Nicolle Wallace "stick to Netflix" for hysteria about Ebola.  Later, Washington Post reporter Todd Frankel, also defending the Obama administration, is such a Pollyanna in arguing against closing the borders that Mika Brzezinski is prompted to say "that sounds like luck to me."

On All In with Chris Hayes, Chuck Todd says he is "sick to his stomach" that Mitch McConnell used in an ad his comment that Alison Lundergan Grimes "disqualified herself" by refusing to say whether she voted for Barack Obama.  But Todd adds that Grimes "invited this on herself" by her refusal to answer the question.
