Gosh, Slate’s “Tech” writer, April Glaser, sure seems to have her heart in the right place. Like an adorable, uneducated child, she’s written about the importance of protecting the planet by deplatforming Facebook users whom she calls “hateful." On her somnambulistic, NPR-like podcast, she’s exposed her ignorance of regulatory hurdles when “explaining” why the internet “naturally” didn’t…

Some government actions serve to annoy. Some work to bemuse. Confuse… And some serve to churn up such righteous anger and indignation the power of thunder bellows through the mind, searching for release. This is one of the latter moments. According to WKTV, on Tuesday, May 28, 64-year-old Deerfield, NY, resident Ronald Stolarczyk shot and killed two suspected home invaders, 57-year-old…

One of the layup points in economics that people in politics and those who comment on the political realm often forget is that the reason people engage in trade is to make their lives better and easier, to toil less. The entire reason people create productive economies is to work less for what they want and need, not to work harder. The problem is that many people disregard the concept of better…

What does one do when a student at University of Utah complains that the reading assignments in her economics class are too "male"? Raise the Social Justice Banner! The intellectual pirates are on the prowl! It starts with a bias, in this case "ormalcy bias. It’s the phenomenon of people becoming accustomed to something, then thinking that nothing different ever could have existed. It…

Author, scriptwriter, and producer Rod Serling was famous for, among many achievements, “submitting” tales of the bizarre and unsettling for “your approval” on his television phenomenon, “The Twilight Zone.”  Often, he and the other major writers on the series would display the stellar talent of being able to weave morality lessons or ethical themes into the tales without making the…

In what could be considered a sign of the times, but also a signal to the mentally lazy that there is a difference between preference and prejudice, respected writer, comedian, and actor John Cleese has offered intelligent swats at the SJW gnats who would try to paint as “racist” anyone who does not agree with their political agendas. The scenario began on May 29, when Mr. Cleese reiterated and…

(Update: 5/30/19 The original version of this story contained a quote from Reason magazine, that Reason has since removed. MRCTV removed that particular quote as well, since it no longer appears in the piece MRCTV is referencing.)     There’s a term in economics called “Rent Seeking”. We apply it when people try to gain not through market competition and customer preference – i.e., fair…

There’s an old expression, “more heat than light”, about issues that generate a lot of emotion or cause a great deal of controversy, but which don’t allow for a deeper understanding of principle. And some might mistake the pop-media chatter over Chik-Fil-A, its popularity, its Christian-based business outlook, its generous Christian-based philanthropy, and the anger leveled by LGBTQ (lesbian,…

The British political climate has become so toxic, and many on the left have become so puritanical and closed-minded, that the situation has come to… The world’s oldest record store refusing to carry Morrissey’s new album "California Son". Hold on. Context. Morrissey is a well-known “Mancunian”, a term of endearment for natives or long-time residents of the storied city of Manchester, England…

(Update 5/23/18: An earlier version of this story incorrectly identified Tommy Robinson as a Ukip candidate, Robinson is currently running as an independent.) The absurdity of contemporary British politics and law just got crazier. First they ban guns, then knives of a certain length and now authorities are concerned about milkshakes. Time for "Milkshake Control." “Milkshake Control”……
