As he covered the volcanic eruption in Iceland which has disrupted thousands of airplane flights, he commented that "when you think of a volcano, you think of Hawaii and long words like that. You don't think of Iceland. You think it's too cold to have a volcano there."

Toobin stated that President Obama's pick to replace Stevens would be a "moderate liberal" like Justice Sotomayor. He continued that the President was no "liberal firebrand" and that the 2007 Heller decision was "activist."
