On the July 6 edition of MSNBC's Morning Joe, conservative commentator Pat Buchanan defended conservatives for taking a principled stand against raising the debt ceiling without matching spending cuts: "They say, ‘This is the wrong way to go. We don’t believe in it. We’ve committed against it." MSNBC's liberal panelists immediately derided the Tea Party position, with Newsweek editor-in-chief Tina Brown being the most inflammatory, saying of conservatives: "I think they’re the suicide bombers in all of this."
