During a report on the most recent edition of Sunday Today, NBC News's Mike Viqueira discussed the "push for gun reform." After playing clips of Democratic politicians calling for gun control, Viqueira brought up how President Trump was "echoing a familiar argument of gun control opponents" at his recent rally in New Hampshire. At the rally, President Trump told the audience "It's not the gun that pulls the trigger. It's the person holding the gun." Viqueira closed his report by noting that "House Democrats plan to come back a week early from their six-week break to tackle new gun legislation; including background checks, red flag laws, and a ban on high-capacity magazines but the House has already passed a background check bill earlier this year, only to die in the Senate." A concerned Viqueira complained that "so far, there's no indication that it won't happen again."
