Media Vet Pushes Colleagues to Promote Biden Talking Points as the Real News

On Christiane Amanpour’s CNN show on Saturday, long-time newspaper editor and columnist Margaret Sullivan outlined her contention that since “this is an extremely consequential election” given the threat Donald Trump poses as an “authoritarian,” journalists must put more emphasis of substantive issues that benefit President Biden than on distractions like Biden’s age. She cited how “people think that the economy is no doing well” as an example of supposed misinformation journalists must correct.
 
The veteran of top positions at the Buffalo News, New York Times and Washington Post, who is now with Britain’s Guardian, contended the media’s “public service role” is “not so much about chasing the latest clicks and the latest horse race coverage, but rather to make sure that we’re getting the stakes of the race across to people.”
