During Monday's edition of MSNBC Live With Craig Melvin, the panel attempted to smear President Trump as a racist by pointing to his recent tweet about Lebron James. Never-Trumper Charlie Sykes suggested that the President has contempt for his base, saying "there's no question he's playing to his base, which, by the way, is a reflection of how much contempt he has for his own base that he thinks...this kind of language...will stoke up the white working class. Look, these are no longer racial dog whistles. These are foghorns." Guest host Chris Jansing continued making the argument that the President is racist by pointing to his criticism of black NFL players who kneeled during the national anthem. She played a clip of President Trump referring to Rep. Maxine Waters as a "seriously low IQ person" and asked Democratic Strategist Jamal Simmons "when people say this is racism pure and simple, do you agree with that?" Simmons did in fact agree with that statement, saying "It appears that the President really does harbor these feelings," bringing up his statements about the Central Park Five, Judge Gonzalo Curiel, and the Khan family to bolster the narrative that President Trump is a racist.
