Flatbed Truck Meets Steel Pipe In New Form of Base Security

Tyler McNally | December 2, 2015

As an increased security measure for overseas U.S. embassies and bases, researchers at Texas A&M University and the U.S. Department of Defense have constructed an anti-ramming barrier that can withstand impacts of vehicles up to that of a 15 ton truck.

The 24 foot-long steel barrier, upon impact, does not move while the truck comes to a destructive stop. This brute force of a technology could greatly improve security at U.S. embassies and bases - something desperately needed at an embassies like the one at Benghazi.
