10-Year-Old 'Hero' Assassinated by Taliban on His Way to School

After being declared a hero for supposedly leading an armed defense against Taliban forces, 10-year-old Wasil Ahmad was shot twice in an head while on the way to school.

His uncle, Mullah Abdul Samad ,was a former Taliban fighter before becoming a police commander in Khas Uruzgan, Afghanistan. According to Sky News, Samad had been injured in combat, and Ahmad apparently took command of his men.

It sounds so far-fetched in Western culture, but Samad told Sky News that the boy “fought like a miracle.”

“He was successfully leading my men on my behalf for 44 days until I recovered," he said.

How men of any nation or creed would allow such a young boy to carry automatic rifles in combat and fire rockets at hostile forces could still be called "men," we’ll never understand. To make things worse, these “men” allowed the endangered child to lead them.

The Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission blame the boy's family, the Afghani government and the Taliban for the boy’s apparent assassination.

"Possibly, he took up arms to take revenge for his father's death, but it was illegal for the police to declare him a hero and reveal his identity, especially to the insurgents," spokesman Rafiullah Baidar said.

Is this not a stark example of how the world is in dire need of freedom and leadership?
