What If Bob Ross and Super Mario Bros. Joined Forces?

Painter Bob Ross, though he passed away almost 21 years ago, has left a lasting impression on society through his much beloved television show "The Joy of Painting." On the online streaming website Twitch, "The Joy of Painting" runs each week with different seasons of the show being aired.

Like Ross's show, Nintendo's Super Mario Bros. has had an untold influence on the last two generations. The various games that include the Mario character have been best-sellers and favorites for children and adults alike. The combination of the two, in some capacity, would define the childhoods of many people across the United States and around the globe.

That is exactly what YouTube group "A Dumb Thing" accomplished.

Using the new WiiU game "Super Mario Maker," a game where users can create their own maps and challenges, "A Dumb Thing" took the idea of Ross's appearance and set design for "A Joy of Painting" and created a custom map.

Some of Ross's favorite paint colors were "Prussian Blue," "Van Dyke Brown," or "Midnight Black," but in the "The Joy of Mario Maker," the colors are "Prussian Lakitu," "Van Dyke Hammer Brother," and "Midnight Boo" to play off the names of various enemies of Mario in "Super Mario Maker."

This video helps encapsulate the childhood of so many people, that even two decades after Ross's death, he still has a profound influence on many lives.
