Watch: Man Shoots All Manner of Bullet Calibers at a Solid Block of Titanium

Ben Graham | January 26, 2016

From the humble .22 LR to the mighty black-tipped .50 BMG, the man behind the Demolition Ranch YouTube channel will show you how different bullets can affect a solid titanium block that’s an inch and a half thick.

Titanium is as strong as steel but much less dense, making it a lot lighter. It’s most often used as an alloy for air and spacecraft for it’s low density and ability to endure extreme temperatures.

Titanium is also used in the medical field as surgical replacements for joints and tooth implants for it’s ability to fuse with bone without the body rejecting it.

Though, in this video, Demolition Ranch wanted to test the element’s strength against conventional firearm-flavored mayhem.

The video stands as evidence as to why the metal is used to build our aircraft.
