TV’s Worst of the Week: Kavanaugh Hate & Monkeying with the Eucharist

Welcome to TV’s Worst of the Week, where MRC Culture's on TV Blog recounts the top liberal bias moments in entertainment television for the week of October 3, 2021.

From Our Blog

• Hollywood’s hatred of Brett Kavanaugh still runs so hot that FX’s Impeachment: American Crime Story seemingly went out of its way to have a young Kavanaugh say, “I never like to take 'no' for an answer...” to keep the false narrative alive that the Supreme Court Justice is a sexual predator. The actor who played Kavanaugh also tweeted during the show, "Brett, if you are reading this, go fuck yourself."

• FX on Hulu’s Y: The Last Man had a particularly offensive scene in which a scientist fed communion bread (it’s unclear if it was consecrated) to a monkey while mocking the Eucharist.

• ABC’s Roseanne spinoff The Conners aimed digs at Christianity and marriage as a pastor advised Darlene to look outside the church to find a path of spiritual guidance “that works for [her],” while another character claimed marriage is “an institution created to oppress" women.

• Paramount+’s Evil, a supernatural show about a priest in training who investigates demonic possession and assists with exorcisms, had a former priest trying to get him to leave the Catholic Church and bemoaned the “spiritual attack” from “redlinings, from student loans, from police shootings.”

• CBS sitcom The Neighborhood had a woke white woman pretending to be black for career advancement à la Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA). She claimed to be “culturally fluid,” echoing Rachel Dolezal calling herself “transracial” (like transgender).

• There were two bright spots this past week. One was CBS’s Blue Bloods, which told the real “reason crime is rising” in NYC: anti-cop sentiment and defund the police sympathies. The other was also on CBS, the sitcom United States of Al covered the tragedy of Biden’s incompetent withdrawal from Afghanistan long after the news side had abandoned the story.
