Swedish Scientists Send Donut into Space with a Helium Balloon.

Ben Graham | April 14, 2015

Swedish scientists, from a group called Stratolys, have done what many others have said was impossible. They finally sent a donut into space!

Okay, maybe no one actually SAID it was impossible.

Though, you have to wonder, what could have been the genesis of this idea? Doesn’t Sweden have a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to illegal drugs?

Nevermind.

The group got together and attached a donut and an adjacent camera onto what looks to be some sort of transparent plastic board. The board was subsequently attached to weather balloon filled with helium and the donut flew into the stratosphere, reaching nearly 20 miles into the sky above before the balloon reached it's limit and popped. Sending all parties involved, astronauts Captain Donut, Major Camera, and Lieutenant Plastic Board, plummeting back to the good ole earthen surface.

Houston, the deliciousness has landed.
