A new Rasmussen poll finds that the majority of Democrats (73%) want a “fresh face” to run for president in 2020.

Current potential nominees include former Vice President Joe Biden and 2016 presidential candidate Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), but most Democrats are not convinced that they are the right choice.

That’s a dramatic uptick compared to results for the same question in 2016 when just 36 percent of Democrats were calling for a new face for the party.

Ever since Hillary Clinton lost to then-Republican nominee Donald Trump in the 2016 election, the Democratic Party has been on the mend. A majority of voters (58%) believe she was bad for the party.

Even now in 2018, there is not one single person considered to be the face of the party.

There’s a long list of potential nominees including Oprah Winfrey, whom Trump has welcomed to run against him come 2020, and even Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson who has expressed his interest in a bid for the White House.

Former U.S. attorney general and outspoken Trump critic Eric Holder has also left the door open to the opportunity, saying, “I’m thinking about it,” when asked whether he would consider a run.

There’s also a number of Democratic senators looking to vie for the nomination, including Sen. Elizabeth Warren (Mass.), who has strongly signaled her interest.

All in all, in a long list of potential contenders, the frontrunner looks to be Sen. Sanders. Time will tell.

The survey of 1,000 likely U.S. voters was conducted July 11-12 and has a margin sampling error of three percentage points.
