“Snow White” actress Rachel Zegler threw shade on classic tales of romance and heroic maleness in a red carpet interview this weekend, where she promised that her rendition of the classic German fairy tale wouldn’t include a woman being rescued by a prince or “dreaming about true love.”

Because lord knows girls just hate that stuff…right?

“You said you were bringing a modern edge to [Snow White] on stage. What did you mean by that?” the reporter asked.

“I just mean that it’s no longer 1937, and we absolutely wrote a Snow White that’s–” Zegler began.

“She’s not gonna be saved by the prince,” Gal Gadot, who plays the Evil Queen in the remake, cut in.

“Yeah. She’s not gonna be saved by the prince. And she’s not gonna be dreaming about true love. She’s dreaming about becoming the leader she knows she can be, and the leader that her father told her she could be if she was fearless, fair, brave and true,” Zegler agreed.

Which begs the question: what’s wrong with dreaming about true love? What’s wrong with a young woman yearning for a partnership with a good and strong man?

Other than, of course, the fact that anything that smacks of traditional relationships, gender roles, or romance goes against the left’s agenda.

Disney’s modern adaptation of Snow White has already come under fire for ditching the seven “dwarves” and replacing them with seven random people of various heights, genders, and ethnicities – a motley crue that better resembles a street corner in LA than a group of men who work in the mines (wait…do they do that in this movie…?). The film also decidedly cast a Latina actress to play the titular character in a move expressly made to highlight the film’s emphasis on “diversity,” despite the original tale of Snow White describing the heroine as a maiden with “skin as white as snow.”

Because that’s racist. Or something.
