While we were counting down the days until the end of rainbow vomit, leftists attempted to shut down Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders for her kids’ chalk drawing.

Sanders’ children – Scarlett, Huck, and George Sanders – had decorated the Governor’s Mansion driveway with a white cross surrounded by triangular stained glass tiles. The governor then posted a photo of the display on Facebook and Instagram.

“New artwork to welcome people into the Governor’s mansion!” the caption read. “So proud of how hard the kids worked and how well their masterpiece turned out!”

The Americans United for Separation of Church and State was far from proud. Two days after the social media post, the nonprofit wrote Sanders a letter, claiming that the artwork violates the Constitution.

“As a government building, the Governor’s Mansion exists to welcome guests regardless of faith or belief,” the letter read. “Promotion of one religion over others through a religious display at an entrance to the Mansion sends the impermissible message that those who do not share the favored faith are unwelcome and will be treated differently.”

And the cringeworthy letter only continued from there.

“While you and your family members are free to create and display religious imagery in private areas of your Mansion and its grounds, displaying a cross at an entrance ‘to welcome people into the Governor’s mansion’ violates the Establishment Clause of the U.S. Constitution. We therefore ask that you remove the display and refrain from placing similar displays in public areas of the Mansion in the future," it read.

Sanders refused to back down, though. On the last day of "Pride" month, she chose instead to clap back at the liberals, unapologetically defending her family’s faith.

“I have received your letter and my answer is, 'No,'” Sanders said. “I will not erase the beautiful cross my kids drew in chalk on the driveway of the Governor’s Mansion or remove my post on social media, and I will not now or ever hide that I am a Christian, saved by Christ.”

She then reminded her critics of the Founding Fathers’ public embrace of religion.

“You are wrong to claim that our Constitution prevents public officials, let alone their families, from making earnest expressions of religious faith," she said. "Our founding documents are riddled with religious language, stating plainly that the very rights you claim to defend are ‘endowed by our Creator.’ You are asking me to ignore that truth and hide a crucial part of my identity and the identity of my kids. That, I will not do.”

What a rarity – and pure joy – it is to see a politician publicly profess Christian beliefs and protect her children.
