Yes. You read the headline correctly.
Matt Lamb reports for The College Fix:
“University of California Los Angeles medical students were reportedly ordered to say a ‘non-secular prayer’ to ‘Mama Earth’ during a mandatory ‘structural racism’ class.”
Triple the pleasure! It’s a “mandatory” class. It’s a “structural racism” class that enforces the idea that private property and differing income or wealth levels ("wealth" being subjective for each person) are rooted in racism, and that only collectivist government theft and redistribution - political preferences that harm some at the expense of others - and the demonizing of anyone who possesses “more” can help this purported injustice.
And it’s a forced prayer, to “Mama Earth,” no less.
“Guest speaker Lisa Gray-Garcia ‘began the March 27 class by leading students in what she described as a ‘non-secular prayer’ to ‘the ancestors,’’ The Washington Free Beacon reported. She ‘instruct[ed] everyone to get on their knees and touch the floor—’mama earth’ as she described it—with their fists.’”
Perhaps some of the UCLA students like to grovel and pretend that a material thing called “Mama Earth” is their creator, but God also gave them brains to figure out that the physical world cannot come from the physical world. Deductive and inductive logic can tell them that it must come from something META-physical and non-accidental.
As Lamb notes, the Free Beacon also reported:
“The prayer also included a benediction for ‘black,’ ‘brown,’ and ‘houseless people’ who die because of the ‘crapatalist lie’ of ‘private property.’
‘Mama earth,’ Gray-Garcia told the kneeling students, ‘was never meant to be bought, sold, pimped, or played.’”
It’s a shame that Gray-Garcia and the university don’t understand that the principle of private ownership – of private PROPERTY – is not an insult to “Mama Earth” and not an assumptive power-play over some anthropomorphic being called “Earth.” Property ownership is a human-to-human system of mutual respect, because God grants each of us the “property” of ourselves. From there, human beings recognize the mutual respect that is inherently tied to what we peacefully make or acquire from others, and we establish mutual “hands-offedness,” acknowledging the primacy of each individual to retain the fruits of his labor and what he peacefully acquires.
Not only does society collapse if property rights are not acknowledged and respected, she, herself, hubristically assumes that her personal thoughts about property can supersede the personal, peaceful claims of others to themselves, and to the fruits of their labor. She assumes a position of power over others whereby she can negate their claims with her OWN concepts of fairness.
It's a QED, non-starting point that collapses under its own illogic, undercutting her very idea that she can discern for others what is fair or how much is too much to have or make or sell.
In fact, the “capitalism,” she decries, often is misused, when critics like her actually might mean “mercantilism,” which was the term Scottish economist Adam Smith used to describe cronyism – the use of political power to gain wealth and stifle market competition – to block property rights claims and to block freedom of exchange – all for utopian, selfish purposes.
Like hers.
But some might argue that, while her “prayers” to “Mama Earth” were part of a mandatory class, prospective students don’t have to go to the university, so it’s up to them.
Not true, of course. The taxpayers can't refuse to pay for the state university system pushing this idiocy. So, one might ask this woman who preaches about the evils of “pimping,” who is being forced to pay for her pimping of collectivism?
Is there, perhaps, a breach in moral connectivity when following her lines of indignation? Absolutely. And she asks the kids to grovel, to pray to “Earth,” while deceiving herself into imagining she is standing up for the innocent.

It’s sad and revelatory. But, at least we can feel good that Joe Biden is working hard to find any way he can to make us pay for the student loans of the foolish who signed up for the university and got on their knees.
The insults are clear, as are all the ways she deludes herself and fools others into thinking they are doing something noble for exploited people: she, herself, is an exploiter.
Perhaps, one day, she can ask forgiveness from the real Creator. And pay back the taxpayers who have been robbed to pay for her nonsense.
