Maine EV Mandate Vote Delayed… By Power Outages

In August, I got to report for MRCTV that a branch of the ever-expanding Maine bureaucracy was gearing-up (pun intended) for a vote on their government goal to mandate that 82 percent of car sellers and buyers in the state no longer trade in internal combustion engine vehicles as of 2032.

The Maine Board of Environmental Protection (a questionable title) was readying its pantomime “hearing” period before a vote at the end of 2023.

But, as 2023 comes towards its end, the vote… has been “indefinitely delayed,” get this, because the state government that wants to mandate ELECTRIC VEHICLES on most residents discovered it was suddenly LACKING ELECTRICITY in many cities, including the august metropolis of the capitol, Augusta.

Writes Thomas Catenacci for FoxNews:

“A top Maine state environmental agency delayed a highly-anticipated vote to approve a sweeping electric vehicle (EV) mandate amid a storm that caused widespread power outages.

The Maine Board of Environmental Protection (BEP) announced that it had indefinitely postponed the meeting, which was slated for Thursday afternoon, until further notice following the storm. Democratic Maine Gov. Janet Mills, who has pursued an aggressive green energy agenda, declared a state of emergency this week, an action that closed state government offices.”

One need not credit a “White Christmas” or a Christmas wish for the change.

No. Because, of course, we all know that mankind is creating a “climate change” apocalypse, this was the result of a rain storm that left 400,000 people without power.

It’s going to be great to have government-mandated, electric-powered cars, especially in flooding emergencies, isn’t it?

Because, as we all know, EVs aren’t prone to massive fire hazards, especially when exposed to flood waters. And the fires are sooooo easy to extinguish! (Sarcasm evident, I hope.)

Writes Catenacci:

"’Governor Janet Mills declared a State of Civil Emergency for 14 Maine counties following a significant wind and rain storm that has left hundreds of thousands of people without power and that has caused significant flooding and infrastructure damage, including to town and state roadways,’ the Maine BEP said in a statement.

‘In consideration of the challenges facing Maine citizens who may wish to participate in the upcoming Board meeting in Augusta, the Board is postponing its meeting scheduled for December 21, 2023,’ the statement continued.”

One wonders if this move by Mills’ Maulers also is fueled (pun intended) by a massive pushback from residents, and that they anticipate bringing together the BEP bureaucrats in months to come, when less attention is on the board and they can more easily and surreptitiously make their momentous vote to ban most normal cars and mandate what they fatuously and erroneously call “zero-emission” vehicles.

As I noted in August:

“Of course, the term “zero-emission” is a misnomer, likely used intentionally to hide the fact that electric vehicles typically get their power from generators utilizing forms of petrochemicals to generate the juice, the fact that said-same EVs also are built using petrochemical power, and the fact that they contain batteries made via intense utilization of human labor and… petrochemicals.”

And, last year, I reported that fifteen states were preparing prohibitions against future sales of internal combustion cars, and that doesn’t even take into consideration the coming federal imposition of 58 mpg average fuel economy for US auto sellers that the Biden regime wants to foist on people starting in 2032.

Even something like the Toyota Prius would not make that fascistic Biden cut – and the Prius is a hybrid that doesn’t require the frequent “recharging” necessary for the Teslas of the world.

And this information is readily available to the bureaucrats and politicians in Maine.

Moreover, the concept of morality could be something the political class in that state might want to consider.

As I mentioned when first reporting on this Maine issue, Climate Cultists all over the world are hard at work making it nearly impossible for future generations to buy affordable transportation. Without any supportive evidence of harm being dealt to anyone via the use of traditional engines, these manipulative Mainers and their ideological ilk are prepared to dictate to others what they can and cannot buy, and they are attempting to force people into an electric car/electric grid that -- in emergencies, especially -- is not worthy of one’s reliance.

They will not allow individuals to decide, and that is all one needs to know that this is immoral and that the people behind the push are not welcome to competition or even debate.

Keep an eye on Maine. Let’s see how this “delay” in the vote concludes, when the BEP finally acts…
