Honduran authorities have arrested a man identified as an organizer of the new migrant caravan currently heading toward the U.S. from Honduras.

The man, named Juan Carlos Molina, 26, apparently has an outstanding warrant for rape charges from 2015, according to a report in a Honduran newspaper obtained by Fox News.

The Honduran newspaper, El Heraldo, states that Molina was arrested Monday night, when the first wave of migrants in the caravan departed San Pedro Sula.

He was arrested at a National Police checkpoint where Honduran authorities saw that there was a warrant for his arrest.

Another Honduran newspaper, La Prensa, identifies Molina as a "promoter of the new caravan of migrants." La Prensa states that word of his role was "spread through social networks."

As MRCTV reported, a new caravan has formed in Honduras and is making its way through Central America toward the U.S.-southern border.

The group has reportedly grown to over 2,000 migrants.
