Veterans Day is coming up, and there are many different celebrations that occur across the country in honor of our those that have served in our military. However, this year the Department of Defense (DOD) is trying something new in dedication to the men and women, past and present, in uniform.

The DOD is going to be releasing “its first-ever original rap song dedicated to honoring the sacrifices and contributions of veterans across the country,” according to an article published by Fox 32 - Chicago.

The song is titled “Salute,” and features Staff Sergeant Lamar Riddick displaying his talent as a rapper to bring people together in honor of veterans.

“I wanted to create a piece that recognizes the invaluable contributions of veterans to our country," said Riddick. "‘Salute' is not just a song but a token of appreciation for the selflessness and dedication of those who have served.”

I don’t care what genre of music it is if the message within it accurately and passionately conveys the message’s intended purpose. The video and song is scheduled for public release on Friday, November 10.
