Why is Canada even a country anymore? To be fair, they do protect their border with the U.S. a heck of a lot more for people trying to enter Canada than they do by opening it for people to pour into the U.S. However, authoritarianism rules the day for our neighbors to the north, who ironically also like to virtue signal about how much more tolerant they are despite having an intolerant person as prime minister.

The latest Canadian take is to let members of what they call the “2SLGBTQI+” community on the dangers of “certain places” in the U.S. should they choose to travel to their neighbor to the south.

“Some states have enacted laws and policies that may affect 2SLGBTQI+ persons,” the country said in its travel advisory. “Check relevant state and local laws.”

Forbes reported on Wednesday:

Answering in French, Canadian Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland told reporters that the travel advice was “not political” but that the government wanted to warn a “specific group of Canadians of a situation that may be difficult for them.” She added: “Our priority, always, in all of our foreign policy, is to protect all Canadians and we’ll continue to do that.”

Speaking in English, Freeland stressed that it’s the government’s job “to monitor whether there are particular dangers to particular groups of Canadians” and “to put at the center of everything we do, the interests and the safety of every single Canadian and of every single group of Canadians.”

Look, I understand to a lot of the rest of the world the U.S. is evil. But, there’s two letters in the word “evil” that also apply to the real reason a lot of those countries dislike the U.S. — EnVy.

As the old saying goes, “They hate us cause they ain’t us.”

In all seriousness, if the U.S. government actually looked out for the people that make it possible for them to exist in the first place, they’d place a travel advisory on Canada warning Americans that Canada has oppressive speech laws and that they need to watch what they say while in the Wish version of the U.S.

It doesn’t even have to be a member of the Alphabet mafia, but if this travel advisory prevents more Canadians from entering the U.S. seeking fame and fortune as an Instagram “influencer,” maybe this isn’t the worst thing in the world.
