An 83-year-old man, Tuyen Nguyen, was viciously beaten while walking to get his morning coffee and paper in Santa Ana, Cali. The surveillance video shows the assailant, 29-year-old Demarrea Chante Barnes, throwing a haymaker and knocking the venerable man to the ground and to continuing to punch and kick the prone man. When the attack ends, Barnes then engages in what appears to be a strange shuffling dance.

The elderly man was seriously injured by the attack, suffering a brain hemorrhage and multiple broken facial bones.

"I'm still in shock," said his son, Peter Nguyen. "I still can't believe this would happen to my family, especially to my father. He is the nicest individual — the last one that you could think something like this would happen to.”

"He's in a lot of pain right now, physically," his daughter Julie told KTLA. "And for us, it's a mental anguish, mental pain. It's a lot.”

Barnes, who police say may be transient, was tracked down and arrested. He is facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm and assault with a deadly weapon with great bodily injury.
