Detectives in the Shawlands district of Glasgow, Scotland have arrested a Muslim man linked to the brutal murder of a Muslim shopkeeper only hours after he wished a happy Easter to his “beloved Christian nation.”

Asad Shah, 40, wrote in a Facebook post:

“Good Friday and a very Happy Easter, especially to my beloved Christian nation... Let’s follow the real footstep of beloved holy Jesus Christ (PBUH) [peace be upon him], and get the real success in both worlds xxxx.”

An eyewitness, who wishes to remain unidentified, said two men attacked the shopkeeper.

“One was stamping on his head. There was a pool of blood on the ground. It was horrific,” the witness said. “The police arrived in minutes and the poor guy was getting CPR at the scene. I really hope he pulls through.”

Unfortunately, Shah died in the hospital from stab wounds and trauma to his head.

The incident is currently under investigation by police who are treating the death as “religiously prejudiced.”

“A full investigation is under way to establish the full circumstances surrounding the death which is being treated as religiously prejudiced,” said a spokeswoman for Glasgow police.

Shawlands resident Isabella Graham, 64, said Shah had previously employed her daughter at his shop.

She said, "He was an amazing, wonderful man, he couldn't do enough for you. He wouldn't hurt anybody. Nobody in Shawlands would have a bad word to say about him. I can't believe he's gone."
