In a press conference on Monday regarding the deadly attack on police in Baton Rouge, Louisiana State Police Superintendent Mike Edmonson said video evidence of the incident leaves “no doubt whatsoever” that the officers were “intentionally targeted and assassinated.”

“In this ongoing investigation, the most compelling piece of evidence is the video,” said Edmonson. “It is chilling the sheer brutality of the shooting.”

“There is no doubt whatsoever that these officers were intentionally targeted and assassinated,” he continued. “It was a calculated act against those who work to protect this community every single day.”

The gunman has been identified as Gavin Long, 29, of Kansas City. He killed three officers and wounded three before being killed in a shootout with police.

One officer is in very critical condition.
