Jerry Seinfeld: Politically Correct People ‘Don’t Know What They’re Talking About’

Jerry Seinfeld made an appearance on the ESPN program “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” this past Thursday where he was asked about how “political correctness” is affecting comedy. Seinfeld pulled no punches:

“I don’t play colleges but I hear a lot of people tell me, ‘Don’t go near colleges, they’re so pc.’

My daughter’s 14. My wife says to her, ‘Well, you know, in the next couple of years, I think maybe you’re going to want to hang around the city more on the weekends so you can see boys.’

You know, my daughter says, ‘That’s sexist.’ They just want to use these words. ‘That’s racist. That’s sexist. That’s prejudice.’ They don’t even know what they’re talking about.”

Seinfeld said that this hypersensitivity is hurting comedy; but, in reality, it’s hurting a lot more than just comedy.

“Social Justice Warriors” come out of the woodwork to promote and celebrate their viewpoints and squash any dissenting opinion as ‘hateful.’ It’s an overtly simple tactic and, yet, it’s working.

Take, for example, this story about former Nickelodeon star Drake Bell. He’s being torn asunder by the militant Left merely for tweeting, “Sorry, still calling you Bruce.” You can witness the smearing starkly when you read the headline, “Drake Bell is a bigot who's sorry he got caught.”

How free is our Freedom of Speech when we can be assaulted by the truly hateful because they hate us and our opinions simply because we refuse to follow the their stream?
