An Israeli man was stabbed by a Palestinian man Tuesday afternoon in Petah Tikva, close to Tel Aviv. The victim managed to free the knife from his own neck before turning the deadly weapon against it’s owner, stabbing and killing the attacker.

The victim was an ultra-Orthodox Jew said to be in his thirties. He was collecting money for charity before the attack, during which he suffered multiple stab wounds to his upper body. He has since been hospitalized and is now in stable condition.

The assailant followed the Jewish man into a liquor store before unleashing a “frenzied attack,” according to reports. The victim managed to break away from the attack and flee the store before returning, pulling the knife from his own neck and stabbing his attacker, who then died a few minutes later.

Below is the knife the Jewish man was attacked with:

Unfortunately, the incident was just one of three separate terror attacks that took place across Israel Tuesday. The attacks happened within the space of just over an hour and a half, and just so happened to coincide with Vice President Joe Biden's visit with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

A second series of stabbings occurred in the port city of Jaffa, where a 22-year-old from the Palestinian village of Kalandiya killed an American tourist and injured ten more.

Biden was visiting former Israeli president Shimon Peres at the Peres Center for Peace at the time of the attacks, less than a mile away from the carnage. His team was aware of the incident, but felt the vice president was in a secure location and didn’t feel the need to alter their scheduled visits.

In Jerusalem, a gunman opened fire on Israeli Police, seriously injuring two before being gunned down himself while attempting to flee to Tel Aviv.

Palestinian terror group Hamas has said the attacks proved that the current wave of Palestinian violence has not desisted, and that attempts to thwart it have not succeeded.
