Anyone a fan of Socialism? How about more extreme Socialists, like Nazis? Or maybe you just love genocide? Well, Worldwide Auctioneers has just the car for you!

Apparently, Nazi dictator — and resident historical piece of human trash — Adolf Hitler’s 1939 Mecedes-Benz 770 will be on the auction block Wednesday as rare car buyers from around the world will be taking part. The Worldwide Auctioneers website quotes the late World War II historian  Ludwig Kosche about the reasoning for possible interest in Hitler’s car.

Here’s what Kosche said about the vehicle:

The purpose of this display is absolutely not to glorify Hitler and his destructive policies, no. It is to show you one of the outstanding cars of the century, built by gifted people, and representing the highest in craftsmanship. But it is also as a memorial to the fighting prowess of American soldiers that we take pride in displaying this showpiece of a fallen dictator. And above all, as a reminder that the evil which this car symbolizes, must never again be allowed to happen.

That is flawed logic at best. Even if the craftsmanship on a serial killer’s weapon was the best you’ve ever seen, would you want it? Or if a shirt Chelsea Handler once wore was made of the finest fabrics, would you bid on it?

The correct answer is no. While I agree that history should always be remembered, what purpose does owning Hitler’s car serve? Just pick up a history book once in a while instead.

Even if you’re the most avid car collector, there’s no prestige in owning Hitler’s car — unless you’re going to publicly blow it up. You’d have to explain why you own it every time you show it to someone. I don’t care if it is “the most historically significant automobile ever offered for public sale,” as Worldwide Auctioneers wrote.

As if it's some kind of consolation to make the person who buys the car feel better about themselves, Worldwide Auctioneers stated that "10% of the sale price of the car will be donated and used to educate how and why the Holocaust happened and how to effectively prevent such atrocities in the future."

For my money, give me the Adam West Batmobile.
