Geraldo Loses His Mind on ‘The Five,’ Screams ‘You Said That to Make Me Look Stupid’

Ben Graham | September 22, 2015

Geraldo Rivera is known for his temper and not-so-intelligent journalistic gaffes. Well, you can add this unnecessary meltdown to both of those lists. He is also developing quite the angry track record of outbursts and threats of violence against “The Five” host Eric Bolling

Geraldo joined the hosts of "The Five” to talk about Obama’s Iran nuclear deal, which Geraldo defended and claimed to pray for its success. After getting the slightest push-back from Bolling, he unhinges the door to the asylum in his head and explodes.

He not only made excuses for Iran’s infamous "death to America" chants - likening its citizens’ fervor to an anti-communist Cold War America - he blamed America for Iran’s culture of hate and violence, saying “There’s plenty of reasons for the Iranians to have a beef against us.”

When Geraldo cited the shooting down of Iranian civilian flight 655 by the USS Vincennes back in 1988, Bolling refused to accept Geraldo’s excuses. “You’re not suggesting we shot down the airliner on purpose,” stated Bolling

Just like that, Rivera snapped and went on the attack. “Why do you say something stupid like that?!”

"That’s like stupid! You said that to make me look stupid and I don’t like it!" He yelled into Bolling's face, at the peak of his tantrum. "I don’t like it!"

Bolling maintained his composure and asked Geraldo if he agreed that the shooting down of the jetliner was an accident. “Of course it was an accident,” Rivera admitted.

Bolling then pushed back even harder, asking “Was it an accident when Iranian money was probably funneled into 19 Saudi terrorists that flew airplanes into the World Trade Center?”

Unwilling to attempt the continuation of the argument, Geraldo’s only reply was an upheld palm that signaled his surrender.

Why does FOX keep this guy around?
