In 2019 Eric Adams once criticized President Donald Trump on immigration. Now Adams is sounding rather Trumpian.
Trump said “our country is full,” in April of 2019 after a visit to the southern border. Trump argued that the U.S. immigration system was overburdened and illegal crossings must be stopped.
“We can’t take you anymore. We can’t take you. Our country is full.”
That same month Adams posted on social media, claiming Trump was using “cynical plots to divide our country” and that “the ultimate city of immigrants wants you remember: you’re ALWAYS welcome here.”
Illegal immigrants have taken NYC Mayor Adams up on his invitation as of late, and now his tune seems to have changed (the video below follows his progression). In fact, Adams now sounds Trump-like.
“We have no more room in the city.” Adams said in July.
As of late, Adams has begun to seem desperate. “This issue will destroy our city. We are getting 10,000 migrants a month,” he told New Yorkers this week.

“Never in my life have I had a problem that I did not see an ending to," Adams said. "I don’t see an ending to this."
Perhaps he doesn’t remember they were “ALWAYS welcome” to his city.
Who seems cynical now, Mayor?
Make no mistake, New York City will ALWAYS stand up to @realDonaldTrump and call out his cynical plots to divide our country. To anyone in the world fleeing hatred and oppression, the ultimate city of immigrants wants you to remember: you’re ALWAYS welcome here. pic.twitter.com/H9xOYz5mJe
