Just before his final performance in the United Kingdom, Elton John sat down with Radio Times to highlight his personal life and bid his adieu to the stage. His comments on the American LGBTQIA+ movement, however, were by far the most controversial - and factually untrue.

“There’s violence, laws enacted in Florida which are disgraceful,” John said. “There’s a law now that, if you visit a doctor in Florida, they can refuse to treat you if you’re gay, which I find just unbelievable.”

The Florida gator in me would like to remind him that the DeSantisland law protects doctors’ consciences, allowing them to refuse certain services that violate their beliefs without fear of punishment. The law never mentions the terms “gay,” “LGBTQIA+,” etc. In addition, a doctor can still love and even treat LGBTQIA+ people without wanting to be, for example, an OBGYN for a “pregnant man.”

Although John had the most beef with Florida, he also unleashed his disgust on several other states, particularly those with anti-grooming laws that protect children.

“I don’t like it at all. It’s a growing swell of anger and homophobia that’s around America," he said, referring to state laws that prevent grown men in drag stripping in front of children or pornographic books on gender and gay sex being included in public school libraries.

Of course, there is no shortage of LGBTQIA+ virtue signaling in America, especially in the middle of "Pride" month, as Joe Biden proves over and over again that he wants to be the most “tolerant” president in American history. Woke agendas have even infiltrated once-innocent children’s shows like Blue’s Clues and Peppa Pig

But for John – and many others in the movement – that’s simply not enough, and everyone who is not a part of the movement should at least explicitly show “allyship” with the “community.”

In other words, if conservatives have another opinion, they can only be tolerant by keeping that opinion to themselves.
