Dodgeball and Archery Just Had a Baby and It's Awesome!

There’s a new sport that may interest those of you who enjoy “combat” sports like paintball and airsoft. It’s called Archery Tag and it’s exactly what it sounds like. You and friends can split into teams of 5 and shoot foam tipped arrows at one another in a last-man-standing-style match. Think dodgeball with bows and arrows.

It’s also safer than other sports since the only protective equipment necessary is a facemask to protect your eyes and teeth. The founders of the sport claim that players feel almost no pain and prove it in a second video that compares the “damage” of an Archery Tag arrow versus a low-velocity paintball.

Archery Tag’s goal is to introduce participants to the sport of archery in a safe and unbelievably fun way. But that isn’t the end of their ambition. They would love Archery Tag to become an internationally sanctioned sport that would be played at all levels of the sports world.

If people enjoy watching dudes in knee high socks kick a checkered ball around while rolling in the grass and acting injured, why the heck couldn’t Archery Tag reach that level of popularity?
