More than 10,000 illegal aliens have been nabbed at the Southwest U.S. border in the past 24 hours alone.

Not in the past month. Not in the past week. In the past day.

Fox News’ Bill Melugin reports from the border that a new surge of illegal immigration at the border is once again overwhelming border agents and straining resources, as record high numbers of migrants are swarming into the country in lines that stretch for miles.

“Per CBP sources, in the last 24 hours alone, over 10,000 migrants were encountered at the border, bringing us back to the all time record high levels we last saw in May before the end of Title 42,” Melugin reports.

Of those, he says, “8,500+ were Border Patrol apprehensions, 1,600+ at CBP ports of entry.” The lines of people crossing continue around the clock, even as border agents pull bodies of drowned migrant children out of the river.

He added the current “free for all” at the border is predominantly made up of Venezuelans - and nearly all men, from the looks of his videos.

The Biden Administration’s response to the chaos? Roll out the red carpet and turn on the "Welcome" sign.

While the feds were busy cutting Texas' border wire to usher in a bigger flow of illegal aliens, the White House this week announced a new program expanding work permits to nearly half a million Venezuelans who are in the country illegally in an effort to smooth things over with leaders of blue cities inundated with mass numbers of border crossers who’ve packed out homeless shelters and are draining city resources. DHS announced Wednesday that DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is extending and redesignating Venezuela for Temporary Protected Status for 18 months for any Venezuelans who were residing in the United States on or before July 31, however illegally. The designation will give around 472,000 Venezuelans protection against deportation and the ability to work for the next year and a half - when, as is usually the case, the program will likely be extended once again.

Temporary Protected States is intended to enable foreigners legally in the United States the ability to stay for longer than their visa allows if they cannot return to their home country due to economic calamity, war, a natural disaster, etc., that occurred while they were here; however, the designation, which can be extended indefinitely, has been abused for years by Democrat administrations as a way to provide de facto amnesty for certain migrant groups for political purposes.
