Less than six months after Rip Curl parted ways with actual female one-armed surfer Bethany Hamilton over her pro-woman opinions on gender “identity” and men in women's sports, the surf-centered gear and apparel company is now turning to a dude to promote their female brand.

On their official Instagram page, Rip Curl featured 44-year-old Sasha Lowerson, who is both scientifically and visually a male, in a video advertising their women’s merch as part of their Meet The Local Heroes of Western Australia campaign.

Lowerson reportedly “transitioned” to a female (i.e., medically castrated himself without becoming one iota more female) in 2021, after saying he became suicidal in 2020 from "living a lie" as a man. He's since gone on to win multiple surf competitions against woman, shocking absolutely no one. Now, he's featured in a short video posted to Rip Curl's women-focused account on Instagram, hailed as one of the company's featured "local women who love the ocean and their community."

As the Daily Mail points out, Rip Curl isn’t the only Aussie brand that’s raked in the backlash after using gender-confused men to model women’s clothing. Moana Bikini recently posted a photo on Instagram of a male model lounging in a women’s one-piece swimsuit, while Seafolly used a “nin-binary” man clad in stripper heels to show off a lime-green bikini bottom.
