President Joe Biden - you know, the same President Joe Biden who couldn’t pronounce Laken Riley’s name during the State of the Union - released a statement Thursday in honor of 16-year-old Nex Benedict, the “non-binary” teen who killed herself after starting a fight with some girls in an Oklahoma high school bathroom last month.

If you’re looking for the White House to comment on the white girl who remains in a coma after her head was repeatedly smashed into the pavement by a black teen in St. Louis last week, you might not want to hold your breath.

But compassion and grief are selective for leftists, and only apply when there’s a narrative to be pushed. Just one day after toxicology reports came back indicating that Benedict died of a drug overdose, the White House released a statement on her death that read, in part, “Nonbinary and transgender people are some of the bravest Americans I know. But nobody should have to be brave just to be themselves. In memory of Nix, we must all recommit to our work to end discrimination and address the suicide crisis impacting too many nonbinary and transgender children.”

Well, perhaps not foisting an identity crisis on our youth by teaching them from toddlerhood that they may have been born in the wrong body could be a start.

While the death of a teen by any means including suicide is always tragic, it’s well worth noting that there’s no evidence that Benedict was being bullied by the girls in the bathroom before the fight occurred, an altercation which school administrators deemed unremarkable enough not to call the police or seek additional medical support. According to police body cam footage taken after Benedict’s parents took her to a hospital and called the cops, a very awake and alert Benedict admitted she hadn’t had any previous interaction with the girls, but that she and a friend simply believed they were making fun of her “because of the way we dress.” In retaliation, she admitted she threw water on the girls, prompting the fight, which the school said was broken up within moments by a faculty member standing outside the bathroom. School staff reported the incident to the involved students' parents, and Benedicts' family opted to take her into the hospital later that day.

Benedict’s mother found her daughter unresponsive the next day from what was later determined to be a fatal overdose.

Still, the "heartbroken" Bidens ran with the narrative that Benedict killed herself as a direct result of having been bullied, despite there being no proof that that’s what happened at all. Then again, never let facts get in the way of a good narrative.

“Bullying is hurtful and cruel, and no one should face the bullying that Nex did,” the statement continued. “My prayers are with NEx’s family, friends, and all who loved them - and to all the LGBTQI+ Americans for whom this tragedy feels so personal, know this: I will always have your back.”

If only he had the backs of Americans raped and murdered by illegal aliens, victimized by urban crime, or drowning in mental health crises thanks to leftwing ideology.

But that’s not the right kind of victim.
