People such as John Locke and Thomas Jefferson explained that “justified” governments are supposed to protect life, liberty (freedom of consensual interaction), and property ownership (the pursuit of happiness). The idea is that you have a right to your life, to live and interact peacefully, and to own that which you earn and use to support your life. Likewise, it is understood that when you ask…

A recent move by President Trump to “scale back” two stunningly vast federal land grabs conducted by his predecessors has hit the news, and, as do so many of the small nibbles Trump makes in the ever metastasizing, always omnivorous federal cancer, the action puts ethically-minded people in a quandary. Following up on an April executive order to have Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke review 27 “…

This week, the Supreme Court of the United States did something to supporters of the right to keep and bear arms, and it wasn’t good – unless one tries to look on the bright side of bad oligarchical positions. On Monday, November 27, the court refused to hear two important appeals to lower court decisions, and both of them have a bearing on the Second Amendment. The first, which got a smidgen…

Christmas came early on Black Friday! Why? Because MSNBC is the pop media network that just keeps giving. Thanks to the pretend news people behind the scenes and the pretend news people on camera, the world was gifted the wonderful display of Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski, and their go-to gaggle of gadflies pretending to be broadcasting live the day after Thanksgiving -- when the show was…

There’s a peculiar tendency among politicians to restrict the peaceful trades of others unless those others are conforming to the rules the politicians prescribe -- and as time goes on in the U.S., the problem seems to be getting worse. Take, for example, the case of Peggy Fontenot, a Native American jewelry artist and photographer who is also a member of the Patawomeck tribe in Oklahoma. As Paul…

For decades, many U.S.-based collectivists have told people that too many Americans are obese. They’ve implied that store owners and restaurateurs are evil for not offering people shelves of bean sprouts, never noting that consumer demand drives shelf allocation. Then they tell us that central planning and mandates will alleviate this situation and are excusable because “we all pay” when someone…

The big-wigs at the National Football League are upset. Sure, they might be a bit miffed at former fans balking over the already politicized football pre-game becoming even more politicized by players “taking the knee.” Yeah, the mucky-mucks might be troubled by news of brain injuries for players due to repeated head trauma, and, yes, the corporate heads might be upset by occasional reports of…

Confirmed: Devin Kelley, the accused murderer of at least 26 people at a Sutherland Springs, TX, church yesterday, had been dishonorably discharged from the U.S military. He was also convicted of committing domestic assault against his wife and child. By dictate of the unconstitutional 1968 Gun Control Act (under President Johnson), it was illegal for him to own a firearm. He got a hold of one,…

The move by a Twitter employee last week to ban President Trump from the social media platform for 11 minutes received a great deal of attention and offered people a glimpse into how easily someone at Twitter can stop the flow of information from a source he does not like. What did not get a great deal of attention, however, was the fact that Twitter’s Acting General Counsel, Sean Edgett,…

Halloween 2017 has come and gone, but not only has the day shown people engaging in the time-tested practice of voluntary charity that CBS anger-machine Stephen Colbert mistakes for “socialism,” it’s offered another “treat” to carry with us into November. Just days ago, Americans had the chance to discover that the “Russia Dossier” created by political hack-o-rama Fusion GPS, handed by Arizona…
