On Wednesday night, MSNBC displayed the leftist media's denial of reality as MSNBC contributor Eugene Robinson insisted that Georgia's new voting law is a "total verbatim repeat" of the "Jim Crow" era even after such hyperbole has been thoroughly debunked.
Ali Velshi -- filling in on MSNBC's The 11th Hour -- set up his guest by posing: "I guess part of the issue is that people need to see these things in black and white, and Governor Brian Kemp says there's nothing Jim Crow about this law. Of course, the President himself said these feel like Jim Crow laws. What's your take on whether it is or isn't?"
Robinson -- who serves as associate editor for the Washington Post where he is also a columnist -- doubled down on the left's over the top claims of racism as he began:
Well, I say it is, and, I mean, I did grow up under Jim Crow laws. And Jim Crow laws, remember, never said black people couldn't vote because that would have been clearly unconstitutional and illegal and out of bounds. What they were, were laws, on their face, applied to everyone but were designed and enforced to deny voting rights to African Americans.
He then added:
And, you know, if this not a complete and total verbatim repeat of that, it is certainly a very close rhyme -- it is -- because that's the purpose, in essence, of these new restrictions. And let's not forget that this new voter law is based on a lie -- the whole thing stems from the big lie about voter fraud in the 2020 election that never, ever happened.
