FELICIDAD AVELEYRA: From here, we actually managed to hear the grief on the one hand, and the joy on the other. It is quite striking to see that in the same country where, a few years ago we all considered it to be a modern country- today we are going back almost half a century, a right for which women throughout the United States fought for so long. What happens today is that this will no longer be a federal right; the states will have the opportunity to decide for their citizens whether or not they will be able to have the right within the state in which they live to be able to perform a termination of pregnancy when they are barely three and a half months pregnant, those babies inside them. So, all these states, many of them are already prepared to fight, so that women there cannot have that right. But other states, such as California, have been preparing their own laws protecting this right for women. What's going to happen? That many women who live in states where it is prohibited, will want to travel to these other more liberal states to get an abortion. The problem is that it costs a lot of money. Taking a trip in these times as we well know, is something with a price which not everyone can pay. And as Arantxa already mentioned, it has been proven that the women who most seek to terminate their pregnancies are those who are at certain lower economic levels, often at levels of poverty.
