Live Action, a "new media movement dedicated to ending abortion and building a culture of life," hosted a "Stop the Killing" infanticide protest in front of abortionist Cesare Santangelo’s clinic in Washington, D.C. on May 1, 2013.
Event organizer Maggen Elizabeth Stone, Live Action Youth Outreach Coordinator and Assistant to the President, counted 120 participants in the protest: "At my last count, there were over 120 people gathered with passers-by continuing to pause and join the crowd."
The rally was held in response to a Live Action investigative video where a 24-week pregnant female actress asked Santangelo if a baby has ever survived an abortion. Santangelo responded, "Usually, at this point in your pregnancy, it's too early to survive usually. It will expire shortly after birth. It's all in how vigorously you do things to help a fetus survive at this point. We would not help it."
Several pro-life leaders spoke at the event, including Live Action President Lila Rose, Susan B. Anthony President Marjorie Dannenfelser, Students for Life President Kristan Hawkins, pro-life blogger Jill Stanek, Americans United for Life Charmaine Yoest, 40 Days for Life National Director David Bereit, and abortion survivor Melissa Ohden.
