An aide to Sen. Marco Rubio has been arrested for assaulting his wife.

WINK News Now reports

Brennan, Senator Marco Rubio's Southwest Florida Regional Director, was arrested and charged with Domestic Violence Battery on Saturday.

The 39-year-old is accused of pushing his wife to the ground in their garage.

His wife, 33 year old Kelly Brennan told deputies she then pretended to be passed out.

That's when she said, Michael Brennan rolled her up in a carpet "as if I were dead or something" and began kicking and punching the carpet with his wife still wrapped inside.

The arrest report continues to say that once Brennan's wife was able to unwrap herself from the carpet, she confronted him.

He then pushed her against a wall. The report states she had abrasions on her elbow and there was blood on the wall where she was shoved.

Brennan left the house and checked into a nearby Quality Inn Suites in Fort Myers.
