Sen. Paul Drops Pompeo Opposition; Says Nominee 'Does Understand That The Iraq War Was a Mistake'

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on Monday dropped his opposition to Mike Pompeo’s secretary of state nomination, saying the CIA director had assured him “that he does understand that the Iraq war was a mistake.” The Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted 11-9 to send the nomination to the Senate floor.
