At an event to announce a campaign to promote citizenship and voting registration to eligible Latino immigrants, Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.) said the two GOP presidential hopefuls who are Hispanic and come from an immigrant family may not appeal to these new voters.

“They know who’s on their side, right?” Gutierrez said at an event on Thursday at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. to launch the New American Democracy Campaign.

Officials with the campaign, described as the “first-ever voter registration program for naturalized citizens and for the U.S. citizen children of immigrants,” said the goal is to register 1 million new voters for the 2016 election cycle.
