Pentagon spokesman Navy Rear Adm. John Kirby said Tuesday Egyptian and Emirati airstrikes against Islamists in Libya were different from U.S. airstrikes against jihadists in Iraq because those were being carried out in a “very targeted” manner, at the request of Iraq's government. Libya's crisis must be resolved politically and without outside interference, he said.
