NYT’s Brooks: ‘Swamp Looks Valuable Now,’ Feds Should Send ‘$1,000 Checks to Everybody’

New York Times columnist David Brooks saw, in the current coronavirus pandemic, an opportunity to advocate for the value of government and to push an idea at the center of Andrew Yang’s disbanded campaign. “The swamp looks pretty valuable right now,” Brooks argued on NBC’s Meet the Press, “you want an establishment that can do stuff” and so “the federal government should be sending $1,000 checks to everybody.”
