“I’m deeply saddened by the passing of Fidel Castro,” said the president of the U.N General Assembly on Tuesday, leading the world body in a minute of silence in honor of the Cuban dictator, a man he described as having had “a great love for his homeland and the Cuban people” and as “a tireless advocate for equity in the international arena.”
