House Speaker Pelosi Thanks Nuns for Supporting ‘Life Affirming’ Health Care Bill

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), a Catholic, thanked the nuns in America who supported passage of the health care bill in March, legislation that Pelosi described as “life affirming” although it does allow for taxpayer funding of health plans that cover abortion and was opposed by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.
