House Speaker John Boehner stated that President Obama’s plan fails to meet a balanced approach by increasing spending and failing to deal with the debt crisis.  He blamed President Obama’s failure to offer spending cuts for the lack of a resolution to the fiscal cliff.  Speaker Boehner argued that the Republican counteroffer is a balanced plan.

Majority Leader Eric Cantor offered to sit down with the White House to deal with entitlement reform, and attacked the president for supporting the Senate’s bill while calling for more revenue. He said the House will stay in DC until January 1st if a deal is not reached.
