The last time President Obama visited Saudi Arabia, after the death of King Abdullah in January 2015, he was accompanied by First Lady Michelle Obama, who chose not to cover her hair in line with custom in the kingdom. Video footage showed many of the Saudi dignitaries did not shake her hand in a receiving line.
