Clearly, Chris Matthews hasn’t calmed down any bit in the slightest since Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy announced his retirement on June 27. MSNBC’s Hardball host was still raging on Monday night hours ahead of President Trump nominating Kennedy’s replacement, declaring it to be “a political appointment even more than the Supreme Court.”
“Julius Caesar wrote that gall was divided into three parts. Well, so is the government of the United States and one of those three parts is to be decided tonight when President Trump declares his pick for the decisive fifth seat in the Supreme Court,” Matthews proclaimed after the Hardball opening credits.
