On the July 7, 1991 edition of Inside Washington, Chicago Sun-Times columnist Carl Rowan disparaged newly-named Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas as anti-black. Referring to KKK leader David Duke, Rowan smeared: "If you gave Clarence Thomas a little flour on his face, you'd think you had David Duke talking."
