During Monday's edition of CNN's New Day, co-host Alisyn Camerota read aloud a tweet sent out by President Trump on Saturday; where he asked if Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren would run as the first Native American Presidential candidate and concluded with "see you on the campaign TRAIL, Liz!" The President's tweet came as Warren officially joined a long list of candidates running for the Democratic nomination for President in 2020. Camerota made sure to emphasize that President Trump wrote the word "trail" in all capital letters, as CNN Senior Politics Writer and Analyst Harry Enten made the argument that "a lot of people saw that as an allusion to the Trail of Tears."  Co-host John Berman stated unequivocally that ""it was an allusion to the Trail of Tears," before describing the tweet as "flat out racist."  Enten agreed and suggested that "Elizabeth Warren said enough is enough. If the President is going to go after me and a subset of people, then you have to respond in kind."  Enten was referring to a statement Warren made at a campaign rally over the weekend, where she suggested that President Trump "may not even be a free person" in 2020.
